Follow this quick guide to transform your server into a fully modded experience!

Launch Project Zomboid from your Steam Library.

Click on Workshop to browse available mods.

Click “See all” to explore the full collection.

Subscribe to your favorite mods and note down:

  • Workshop ID
  • Mod ID

You’ll need both for the next steps.

Manage your server via the Game Control Panel

Stop your server before making changes to avoid issues.

Click on Files in the left menu of the panel.

Locate the file:
/home/container/.cache/Server/[ServerName].ini

ℹ️ The file name matches the Save/Config Name set in the Startup tab.

Find the line:

Mods=

Add your Mod IDs separated by semicolons:

Mods=modID1;modID2;modID3

Find the line:

WorkshopItems=

And add your Workshop IDs:

WorkshopItems=workshopID1;workshopID2;workshopID3

Click Save Content at the bottom of the editor to save the file.

Restart your server via the control panel.
Your server will now load all selected mods!

Your modded server is now live!
Whether you’re adding survival mechanics, visual enhancements, or entirely new content — your Zomboid world has just leveled up.

🔥 Enjoy the apocalypse!
