Players Can't Connect
Can’t join your Hytale server, or your friends can’t? Work through these common causes from top to bottom.
Server isn’t running
Section titled “Server isn’t running”- Problem: Nobody can connect.
- Check: Open the game panel — is the status Running?
- Fix: Click Start and wait until it’s fully online. See Start & authenticate your server.
Server won’t finish starting
Section titled “Server won’t finish starting”- Problem: The server starts but never reaches Running, or nobody can join right after a fresh order.
- Fix: Your server authenticates automatically — just give the first start a few minutes to download and set up. If it’s still stuck, restart it once. See Start your server.
Wrong address or port
Section titled “Wrong address or port”- Problem: “Can’t reach server” or a timeout.
- Fix: Re-copy the IP address and port from the panel and make sure players use the full
IP:port. See Connect to your server.
Game versions don’t match
Section titled “Game versions don’t match”- Problem: A player is on a different Hytale version than the server.
- Fix: Make sure everyone (and the server) is on the same version. During Early Access, updates are frequent.
Blocked by the whitelist
Section titled “Blocked by the whitelist”- Problem: Only some players get in.
- Fix: If a whitelist is on, add the player’s username to it — or turn the whitelist off.
Wrong password
Section titled “Wrong password”- Problem: “Incorrect password” when joining.
- Fix: Passwords are case-sensitive — re-share the exact password, or change it in the panel.
Still stuck?
Section titled “Still stuck?”- Restart the server and try again.
- Try connecting yourself to confirm whether it’s the server or one specific player.
